The Talking Candle

"TRIM MY WICK!"
If your candle could talk it would tell you, "Please keep my wick trimmed". Most candle issues can be solved by simply keeping your wick trimmed to about 1/4 inch at all times. Proper trimming and maintenance can prevent and solve:
  • A tall flame
  • Black smoke
  • Mushrooming on the tip after burning
  • Burning through wax too fast

Wick trimmers are your candles best friend. Untrimmed wicks can cause large flames, sooting, and other unsavory candle issues. Should you find yourself without one, you could use a nail trimmer or you can find them here.

Burn in 2 to 4 hour increments:

During your first burn, please burn your candle for at least 2-4 hours to ensure an even melt pool.  An uneven melt pool can drown the wick & cause problems lighting it, or prevent you from achieving an even melt later.  For safety precautions and preservation of your candle scent, please refrain from burning longer than 4 hours at a time. Keeping the candle lid on your candle can also help to preserve fragrance scent.

To prevent fire and serious injury:

Always trim wick to 1/4 inch before lighting and keep debris out of wax pool. Never burn longer than 4-hour intervals. Set candle on heat-resistant surface and avoid drafts. Always burn within sight and extinguish before leaving room. Do not burn your candle near flammable items or anything that may catch fire.  Keep away from children and pets. Do not extinguish with water. Always allow wax to harden before relighting, touching or moving your candle and always trim the wick before relighting.
